What can we learn from the research project "Doing Family in A Transnational Context" (TRANSFAM)?

This chapter is a broad summary of TRANSFAM research devoted to Polish migrants in Norway, including settlements trends, gender aspects of migration, relations with the country of origin, care practices and responsibilities, integration with Norwegian society, evaluation of Norwegian school system as well as migrant childrens negotiation of their bonds in the Polish-Norwegian space. The paper discusses several crucial differences between Polish and Norwegian societies (regarding e.g. education system or labour market) highlighted by the respondents during the research. Moreover, the chapter provides insights of innovative and inspiring methods and methodological approaches for further research. Based on TRANSFAM research the authors puts forward several important recommendations with regard to integration, migration and family policies
